The Ronald Regan Experiment as Described by Thom Hartmann in his Book "Threshold"
"….. with the election of Ronald Regan and the elevation of the conservative/libertarian think tank worldview, one that benefits only the wealthiest (few). Public works came to a screeching halt, so badly that it’s estimated that the nation is now in need of $2 trillion just in repairs to the (existing) infrastructure our grandparents put in place (selflessly for our generation to have and enjoy the use of). Meanwhile (under our guardianship and after Ronald Regan), bridges collapse, water systems fail, hospitals and schools have become decrepit, and cities, counties, and states are forced to sell off public roads, water systems, and power systems to (often foreign) companies and wealthy individuals (who benefited from Regan’s tax changes),simply to get the (necessary) money to continue basic services such as firefighting and law enforcement."
"... When functioning properly, government serves the people, not the other way around."
"... Are we the people (now) here to serve the economy and its owners/leaders?"
(with the owners being the 1% or less of the total world population who presently have and control 95% of the world's wealth, it's resources and nearly all of it's politicians who have become corrupted and sociopaths being compromised by their own lust for wealth and more power)
"Or is the economy here to serve the needs of society?"

The Regan Experiment has changed the United States of America from being the Land of Opportunity into the Nation of Disrepair.
"Trickle Down Theory" can only work in a perfect world where GREED is non existent.
The prevailing mantra of the Western Civilization after Ronald Regan became "Greed is Good" and "Get What You Can While You Can" without any regard for others, the future economy, the future ecosystem, the condition of neighborhoods, the condition of US infrastructure, the future of the baby boomers retirement, the effects of GMO foods, the effects of overcrowding, the effects pollution, the effects of mega stores to the likes of Home Depot and Lowe's putting small local hardware stores out of business, the effects of declining neighborhoods due to large chain stores pricing out of business the mom & pop businesses such as restaurants and other little locally owned shops where the owners and workers had a "real" stake in the local community, the effects of the loss of the United States of America's local work force due to Government incentives to ship the labor force to third world underdeveloped countries based on pure short term profit, the effects of the overall erosion of the "American Family Unit"due to mom and dad's absolute need to both be in jobs to merely cover the cost of living and survival (most of which also cause the employee to give up valuable additional family time unpaid but to meet dictated continuing education requirements for advancement or job sustainability) , the effects of the erosion and decline of the village atmosphere which helped to build viable communities across America, the effects of the overstepping of the federal government into the local school system which served to erode the ability of school systems to instill local values and morals into students and families,, the effects of personal gain mentality of the politician trumping the citizen who elected that politician to be "their" representative, the effects of the loss of "Real" American Patriotism in Politics being replaced by greed, fascism and secret societies, the effects of private wealth control of a "New World Order" planning & implementation mentality using the Tax resources of the American People against the American people, the effects of an agenda of nation building with a war mentality to enrich the private corporate military industrial complex who's CEOs and executives nearly all belong to the prior mentioned secret societies hell bent on destroying all that is good in The United States of America .
These times have become a very sad state of affairs. While the average American is now so caught up in quest for personal gain and his or her own greed of wanting more out of daily life or in a struggle to maintain a standard of living that is unsustainable that they are willfully literally closing their eyes to all the greed and what they know to be unjust, morally wrong and corrupting because they now fear that their acknowledgment of the present socio-economic sad state of affairs after the Regan Experiment will lead them to retreat on their quest for personal gain while they fear others will continue with the "Greed is Good" mantra thus passing them up in the real life game of life. (It is about keeping up with the Jones' at the cost of all else including their souls)
